RunDisney Virtual Shorts Return in 2017!

This year marked runDisney's first foray into the virtual running world with their Virtual Running Shorts series themed after the famous mouse who started it all.  Being a runDisney veteran (races sell out fast), I signed up the minute I received notice.  They didn't sell out in minutes (there were 3 5ks and a challenge), but they did all sell out.  You can find my review HERE.  So, I was randomly stalking the runDisney site today and happened to see that the Virtual Shorts date was updated.
Sorry for the wonky highlight.
That's right, it's coming back and we have a date!  The series will be taking place June 1 - August 31!  Before you get too excited, registration is not available until Spring 2017, but I'm really glad to see that this fun race option will be returning with 3 5ks (each is $39) and a challenge ($142).  And there is more!
RunDisney did provide an event update as well including a pretty major hint about this year's theme.  Anyone up for some Pluto medals?

Did you run any of the 2016 Virtual Shorts 5ks?
Do you like virtual races?

  1. This sounds like fun and who doesn't love Pluto? It amazes me how virtual races have proliferated. I just did RnR's "Making a Band" series.

    1. It really does seem that more and more people want to do races (and get medals), but in their own way and on their own time. I'm old school and admit that it still doesn't feel like a "race" to me, but I can't resist Disney! Would love to know your thoughts on how your virtual series went with RnR.

  2. 39$ is a great deal for even a virtual run disney race. They sell out so fast. At least you have plenty of notice this time.

    1. This year's races didn't sell out fast at all, but they've been getting a lot of press on social medial, so I think we can expect a little more of that runDisney registration madness we've all come to know!

  3. Doing the race is fun cause you can get more friends involved. In 2017 I think it will be Goofy not Pluto on medals.

    1. Totally agree about getting friends involved! You could be right about Goofy - I was going off of the "dog-gone" clue ... is Goofy a dog?
